""Here we have space to grow. TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) builds us based on what we dream of and what we believe."
Finding purpose can give your life meaning and TCS gave me my purpose for life ‘My ikigai.’ I've been with the company for almost 10 years. I didn’t know much about this amazing place.
I discovered at TCS that I love problems and I had the insight here. I worked in Quality Delivery at TCS, and I realized that we at TCS live for the customer, so we have the opportunity to improve the quality of what we offer the customer. Delivery was important to me because I had contact with all the verticals and had the pleasure of being the person who delivered the problem solved. I discovered myself at TCS.
When I started working at a Bank client, I identified a lot with that world of Finance, and I was very well recommended to work at TCS, because TCS needed someone who had a good relationship with the bank, and I was able to be that someone.
Today I feel that I am reaping the rewards of building relationships and creating networking. To interact and connect with people opened several doors for me.
At other times in my life, I changed routes because it didn't fit with my values. I decided to set out on a journey where my work met my life purpose. And I found mine at TCS.
Every day I come super excited to work, because I never know what I'm going to find here. Every day is a new day, it's not a repetition. There are new things, new projects, new situations, and new challenges. Every day is new and that's what inspires me.
I joined as Delivery Manager for a large account in the Finance segment. Then I was Delivery Manager for a large insurance company. I went to DEG (Delivery Excellence Group) and returned to BFSI as Delivery and Resources Manager. People come to me because they see me as a point of contact for solving problems.
My role is to help projects and Delivery Centers to give the best quality service and motivate people to bring quality service to the customer. I help allocate people and move resources between projects. I am an operational tactician. Targets are set according to what needs to be done in terms of assertive allocation of people and profitability for the project.
Every day I deal with challenges at TCS, and I work very hard. But for me it's not a job, it's an act of service. When I go home, for me it's not hard work and a heavy day, but a day that I feel I served the company and the client. I'd say I have not worked for many years. I enjoyed it!
I feel that the work I do in TCS makes a difference in people's lives! I think this is because of the passion I have for TCS and the purpose TCS has in making a difference in the community in which it operates. For example, nowadays, TCS donates 66% of the company's profits to philanthropy, and in doing so it inserts itself into the community in which it is based. Even because of my life story...I'm already 66 years old and I feel relaxed just working here. And I feel there are more people with this same feeling of belonging, inclusion, and acceptance.
I think the initiatives geared towards the health and safety of TCS employees are wonderful, and it has a strong impact on people's lives. TCS helps people to work without having to worry about anything else. The company welcomes you so that you can work without worrying about personal matters, because you may find all the support you need to maintain a work-life balance.
I was involved in a case where a person with disability was assigned to a job because of their real ability, not just because of the limitations. It resulted in the retention and satisfaction of that professional in a safe environment. This is only one example of TCS Diversity and Inclusion mindset.
On regards to the environment, I feel like TCS is a family. Even being a large company, It's very personal and welcoming. The associates are welcoming, and we guide each other. Day-to-day, I solve problems and guide people. If I don't know how, I find out who does. The atmosphere is very pleasant. It's a healthy and friendly competition.
TCS cares about associates, investing in training and development, besides great benefits. TCS really treats the associate not as an employee but as a true partner. TCS doesn't hire for profit, but so that the person can develop within the company. In addition to the ease with which we have access to the various hierarchical levels.
With my managers and all leadership, I learned resilience, commitment and to be tireless. To work hard but always caring about wellness, keeping the passion for what I do.
All this perception I have about TCS Belief and Culture may be found in our value of "Adapt how we work and live" and "Develop and share access to knowledge".
As a last reflection, I would like to leave you, reader of this article, with the following thought that I built on my TCS: journey: Link your goals to your personal values. Our essence is one, so when we choose to work for a company, we are also choosing what will be a crucial part of our lives.
I've discovered that more than discovering what you like to do, you must learn how to like what you must do. I learned what I love to do at TCS.
Proud to be TCSer!
