At TCS, surprises and challenges are part of every day. I come to work with excitement, curious to see what new experiences I will encounter. This spirit of discovery and learning is very motivating. Each day is unique, bringing new tasks and projects that create opportunities. TCS inspires me to break out of my comfort zone and focus on my personal and professional growth.
My first job was at a big bank in Brazil. It taught me a lot, and I worked there for over 6 years, eventually becoming a project manager. After that, I joined the largest clothing company in Latin America. I took the job because I wanted to help build the IT department, and I stayed for more than 4 years. During that time, I got offers from other companies in the same field, but I couldn't leave the big one for a smaller company, even with better pay, because I knew my goals!
I have 43 years of work experience across different industries. These experiences have been valuable and have shaped me into the professional I am now.
During one of my experiences, I interacted with the CXO at a big insurance company. I had set up a meeting with the CIO to present our services. After my presentation, he looked at me and said, “You worked at ‘X’ company, didn’t you? I was your intern!” I felt nervous since I didn’t recall him, but he expressed great respect and admiration for me, and in the end, he decided to hire our services.
I discovered an important lesson: "You are constantly being watched, whether by your team, peers, or superiors, so it's essential to lead by example."
I am at TCS today because someone recognized my work early in my career and recommended me for my dedication, honesty, and eagerness to achieve results.
I understand that achieving good results relies on the team, so I make myself available to work together on solutions. This openness helps others see me as someone they can approach for any issues, and I always assist them in finding answers or connecting them with the right support. A key part of my role is to match associates who are available with positions that suit their skills. It feels great when an associate's profile aligns perfectly with the project's needs that I referred them to.
I believe my work positively impacts people's lives. This comes from my strong passion for TCS and its mission. TCS strives to empower the community and people! For instance, TCS gives 66% of its profits to charity, which helps it connect deeply with the local community. I find that amazing!
One more thing I love about TCS is how they care about their associates' growth. They invest in training and development, offering many platforms with over 10,000 courses. TCS sees associates not just as employees, but as real partners.
TCS is definitely one of the best companies I've ever worked for. They really focus on diversity and inclusion every day. I joined the company when I was 56, and I will celebrate 10 years here on May 24. I often joke that since I plan to live to 120, I’ll keep working at TCS until I’m 80!
In terms of the work environment, I view TCS as a close-knit family. Despite being a large organization, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This spirit of friendliness and inclusiveness is so ingrained in the company culture that it's reflected in the behavior of each employee. They treat each other with kindness and willingness to assist one another, and this has a direct effect on the bonds we form with our diverse range of clients.
I have learned resilience and hard work from my managers and senior leaders at TCS. I strive to work diligently while also prioritizing my well-being and keeping my passion alive for my work.
The values of TCS, such as “Leading Change, Integrity, Respect for the Individual, Excellence, and Learning and Sharing,” reflect the beliefs and culture I admire. I want to share something that deeply impacted me when I first realized it.
Even though I have always practiced this, I found my true purpose at TCS: HELPING PEOPLE! As a final thought, I want to offer some advice for living a life of “serving” rather than just “working.
I used to say I'm not a “workaholic”; I’m a “WORKLOVER”!
