When a child is sexually abused and the material is disseminated online, it's like the abuse never ends. That's why it's so important to remove child sexual abuse images and videos from the Internet. ECPAT Sweden works against child sexual exploitation and abuse. So the purpose of ECPAT Hotline is to accept and receive reports from the public, reports on any form of child sexual exploitation and abuse. In 99% of the cases it's that someone has seen something online, usually an image or a video. What we do is that we assess the material to see if it's illegal or if it's harmful for children, and then we trace the hosting location and then we work to remove it from the Internet. The reports we received from the public ranges from anything from social media posts of children who have had their nude images disseminated without consent, to child sexual abuse material posted on the clear web or even on the darknet. For a hotline that receives thousands of reports every year, it's important to have very efficient case management system. So TCS helped us create a new case management system for the hotline back end, where we assess the reports we received from the public, where we use them for tracing the reports and also to submitting the reports for removal to the hosting provider and the national law enforcement. For civil society organisations such as ECPAT Sweden, it's very important and very valuable to receive pro bono help from large companies such as TCS. One of the reasons that we've chosen to work with ECPAT is because the amazing work that they do. This is a global problem that all countries are dealing with and that no one should have to deal with. A child should have a safe upbringing. They have the right to that and to work with an organization that tries to fight that is incredibly humbling for us. One of the reasons also that we do this is to help create awareness. We need to create more awareness in society. We want to create more awareness amongst our employees because it's a bigger problem than what people realise and if we don't talk about them, we can't do anything about them.
