AstraZeneca is a global pharmaceutical company. We are based across Europe and the US We have approximately 57,000 employees, 11,000 of those are in research and development. We have about 100 affiliate marketing companies across the world and about 25300 global products. Our engagement with TCS began in 2008. In 2008, AstraZeneca made a decision that we needed to focus. Our patient safety on core competencies and things that only AstraZeneca could do. We did have some activities that we thought we could partner with someone to manage. So we looked into the thorough investigation and found that TCS could offer us what we needed and matched very well the complement of activities that we were going to retain in house. One of the major business results that TCS has helped us with is the ability to standardize our approach to pharmacovigilance. We had seven sites across the world that did our case handling activities and relocating all of those and consolidating them into the two sites that we have with TCS has offered us standardization and consistency and that's really what our regulators are looking for. Our relationship with TCS has grown quite a bit over the years. Initially, I would say that we both went into this relationship kind of naive how to work with a partner in the pharmaceutical world. And through the course of time, our relationship has matured quite a bit. We've partnered on so many different activities both in the pharmaceutical world within AstraZeneca and also to the outside world. And showing what a good partner takes and what the skills are required to make a partnership work. One of the unique things about working with TCS is that you really feel that joint sense of commitment and ownership. We aren't just a vendor and a client. We really partner together in problem solving and celebrating, which I think is really important when it comes to partnerships. And you definitely get that sense when you visit the TCS sites that they feel that they're part of AstraZeneca, not just someone. Who works for us. Our relationship with TCS, we've really learned how important are you partnering is and our relationship with TCS has actually been held up in our company as one of the best examples of how we partner with other providers. We've also take part in other external conferences in collaboration with TCS showing that partnership and showing that we have shared accountability and shared. Responsibility in meeting joint objectives for the project. One of the reasons we looked at outsourcing and sharing responsibility with someone was because we realized internally we were not as productive when it came to case handling as we could have been. We had some benchmarking numbers done and how we compared to other pharmaceutical companies was not as favorable as we would have liked. And since we've partnered with TCS, we've looked at that productivity and it's more than doubled and it's offered us the centralization and the consistency that I was Speaking of before in working with all of our providers as well as the regulators.
