CHALLENGE
Bekaert wanted higher control and transparency across their supply chain.
To streamline its manufacturing business, Bekaert needed more control over its inventory, lower plant maintenance costs, and better visibility of plant operations. With plants and warehouses around the world, it was imperative for them to standardize processes and products in line with industry best practices. Their growth was being hindered by outdated, disparate platforms and inaccurate production forecasts. Bekaert needed a reliable, global, strategic partner to harmonize their processes.
TCS standardizes processes and products definition across the globe for Bekaert.
TCS designed, developed, and deployed a SAP-based, multilayer, legacy migration program. This solution aimed at improving the supply chain, reducing cycle time, improving quality, and providing a global, scalable business platform. We gathered the requirements of different units worldwide and validated the solution for consistency across locations. Working with Bekaert’s IT team, we also instituted change management procedures for each region. Our solution helped integrate demand management, sourcing, production allocation, supply network planning, production planning, production events, shop-floor robots, and costing.
We introduced new functionalities such as traceability with handling unit management, process manufacturing cockpits and integration techniques, best practices in planning such as forecasting and global Available to Promise (gATP), and pack-to-order flows.
TCS streamlines operations of 20+ plants and 6 warehouses globally.
Leveraging our 5D approach—Define, Design, Develop, Demonstrate, and Deliver—we seamlessly rolled out the solution in Europe, China, and India, simultaneously. Over a five-year period we have delivered several multi-country rollouts, on schedule.
