TCS Connected Universe Platform
An edge-to-cloud, enterprise-grade, full-function industrial IoT platform
Internet of things (IoT) has the power to transform industries and modernize business processes.
Worldwide spending on IoT is expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2026, up from $806 billion in 2023, as per IDC. A significant part of this growth is expected to be contributed by industrial companies that are digitalizing operations and transforming business models to improve efficiency, remain competitive, better customer experience, and trim costs. The number of connected devices is expected to double to 30 billion by 2030, from 15 billion, at present.
There are, however, roadblocks. Connecting diverse legacy assets, managing interoperability of multiple industrial control systems and protocols, handling an increasing number of sensors and devices, and putting in place a robust cybersecurity system are some of the challenges these companies face as they embark on this journey.
Despite these challenges, delivering business value remains the top priority. Improved data engineering, advanced analytics for relevant and contextual insights both at the edge and on the cloud, and significant improvement in reliability and uptime of industrial systems are key to justifying the investments required.
Global businesses are using the TCS Connected Universe Platform for connected value chains to reduce cost, enhance production efficiencies, develop new service models, increase yield, and develop energy-efficient sustainable environments.
TCS Connected Universe Platform
Solution
TCS Connected Universe Platform powers future-ready businesses with state-of-the-art IoT technology that delivers on industry use-cases with proven, purpose-built, and domain-rich applications.
It delivers an out-of-the-box device and asset connectivity, high-velocity data ingestion, advanced analytics at the edge and on the cloud and a rapid application authoring environment.
The platform offers an efficient suite of IoT components at the edge, which have notably small hardware footprint and can run on commodity servers. The IoT components are available on extremely resource constrained microcontroller units (MCU) endpoints as well.
The platform has a library of plug-and-play artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms for intelligent inferencing and accurate insights from data, enabling real-time decisions. Edge processing at the MCU or endpoint delivers almost the entire power of the platform securely at the data source.
The platform also enables a single, unified view of the assets spread across multiple plants in different geographical locations. The platform provides out-of-the-box visualization using intuitive dashboards to help monitor asset performance in real time.
TCS Connected Universe Platform can be hosted on any private and public cloud. The platform comprises service components which can be deployed and scaled up and down independently.
It also comes loaded with several verticalized applications that implement a variety of industry use cases:
Predictive maintenance and servitization: Industrial IoT-based equipment connectivity, real-time asset data ingestion, analytics around fault codes and lead indicators, and a built-in health index computation engine enable superior equipment reliability and uptime, improving overall equipment efficiency. The health index predicts failures based on fault codes and lead indicators data.
Golden batch: It provides a built-in model for process manufacturers to compute the batch score while production is in progress and achieve the golden batch. That helps optimizing production yields.
Clever EnergyTM: The solution uses AI-ML to monitor energy demands, usage patterns, and detect anomalies to help enterprises realize their sustainability objectives.
Lab of the future: The platform supports process manufacturers in improving the efficiency of research and formulation labs by harnessing diverse and complex data originating from state-of-the-art equipment.
