Transportation services now operate on service-oriented mobility models
As customer demands evolve due to COVID-19 alongside changing global dynamics, transportation services have become service-centric. The future of transportation will be driven by fleet management solutions instead of vehicle ownership. However, to enable such services, fleet management will need to be strongly integrated with mobility services to better serve the customer. To facilitate this, fleet management will have to undergo innovative business model changes, backed by a connected ecosystem, as described below:
- Boosting revenue with shared autonomous vehicles: A fleet of driverless cars can offer a low-cost, efficient, and safe mobility option to commuters.
- Customized travel solutions with mobility-as-a-service (MaaS): MaaS integrates different modes of transport and includes planning and booking journeys, payment transactions, and more.
- Optimizing fleet and travel costs: The focus of costs will shift from total cost of operations (TCO) to total cost of mobility (TCM).
