The Agent2Agent Interoperability Protocol (A2A) will help AI agents within enterprises communicate, collaborate, and coordinate intelligently, starting with applications across the manufacturing sector
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA | MUMBAI, APRIL 23, 2025: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, announced its collaboration with Google Cloud as a launch partner to support and contribute to the development of the Agent2Agent (A2A) interoperability protocol. This pioneering framework is designed to help AI agents within enterprises communicate, collaborate, and coordinate intelligently, enabling higher levels of autonomy in the agentic manufacturing ecosystem.
As enterprises increasingly deploy specialized AI agents—from those managing inventory or production lines to others analyzing supply chain disruptions or processing warranty claims – there’s a growing need for these to work cohesively to deliver business value at scale. The A2A protocol offers a shared foundation and language for agents to operate as a team, with mutual understanding and shared context, enabling secure interactions across departments, systems, and even organizations.
Victor Morales, Vice President, Global System Integrator Partnerships, Google Cloud, said, “The Agent2Agent interoperability protocol establishes the framework that businesses need to unlock the true value of agent capabilities, enabling communication across multiple platforms and data systems. We’re excited that TCS will leverage our protocol to advance enterprise workflows specific to the manufacturing sector.”
TCS is driving the protocol’s evolution by contributing manufacturing-specific use cases, proposing enhancements, designing experiments, and outlining joint strategies for greater ecosystem engagement. With manufacturing as the initial focus, we see this as a foundation to scale agent-to-agent collaboration across industry verticals.
Anupam Singhal, President – Manufacturing, TCS, said, “Through our partnership with Google Cloud on the Agent2Agent interoperability protocol, we're driving the evolution of Agentic AI. By breaking down AI silos and enabling seamless agent communication realized via a service as a software model, we're unlocking unprecedented efficiency and innovation. Imagine end-to-end autonomous processing for warranty claims, eliminating cross-platform and cross-domain bottlenecks. We're proud to be at the forefront of this new era of automation, where semantic interoperability is paramount.”
In real-world scenarios such as warranty claim resolution in the automotive industry or coordinating supplier logistics during a disruption, the A2A protocol enables AI agents to share intent and insights—not just data— resulting in faster decisions, fewer bottlenecks, and greater adaptability. The protocol also allows agents to dynamically discover each other, negotiate roles, and collaborate on complex tasks—without the need for custom integrations.
Google Cloud launched this new, open protocol with support and contributions from more than 50 technology partners. This collaborative effort signifies a shared vision of a future when AI agents, regardless of their underlying technologies, can seamlessly collaborate to automate complex enterprise workflows and drive unprecedented levels of efficiency and innovation. Built on open standards for authentication, authorization, and auditability, the A2A protocol fosters trust and transparency across distributed, multi-agent AI environments. It is designed to evolve with future needs, including handling adversarial situations, ethical considerations, and large-scale multi-agent orchestration.
This launch builds on TCS’ vision of Future-Ready Manufacturing, helping enterprises adopt AI as a trusted, collaborative layer that powers autonomous operations, cross-system intelligence, and sustainable transformation at scale.
