Indian High School, Dubai wins as UAE raises the bar at the 2nd international edition of TCS IT Wiz 2012
Over 600 students from across the UAE exhibit their IT Quotient
Dubai, April 28, 2012: After the roaring success of the inaugural edition last year, the second edition of TCS IT Wiz UAE edition conducted and organized by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), received an overwhelming response from schools in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah. Over 600 students participated in the second consecutive international edition of the inter-school IT Quiz held on Saturday, April 28, at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai.
After the preliminary round and some grueling and intense final rounds of quizzing, Arpit Raorane and Manas George from Indian High School Dubai, walked away with the coveted trophy in a nail-biting finish. They won an iPad each. Anand Ravindran and Shreyas Ravishankar from Dubai Modern High School received their runners-up trophy along with an iPod touch.
Varun Kapur, Head of TCS Middle East, Africa and Mediterranean, Manojkumar Agarwal, Regional Director, TCS Middle East Operations and other dignitaries distributed prizes. “It was an amazing experience to watch these students,” said Varun after presenting the winners with the trophy. He added, “Events like quizzing are important to create well-rounded global individuals, who can collaborate under pressure as well as compete under the spotlight. The quest for knowledge on science and technology, displayed by students across UAE, has been remarkable.”
The UAE edition was open to school students studying in class standards 8-12. Six students from the following schools made it to the finals: Abu Dhabi Indian School, Our Own English High School- Sharjah, Dubai Modern High School, Indian High School, Dubai, Our Own High School, Al Warqa, Al Ain Juniors School.
They received an array of prizes from TCS including travel bags, car mouse, mini speakers and pen drives. TCS IT Wiz UAE winners and runners also received a host of goodies including die-cast miniature models of Ferrari cars.
