Operational, financials, real-estate and human resources integrated on a single platform
Kochi / Mumbai, India, February 6, 2009: Tata Consultancy Services, (TCS) the leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, today said it has completed the ERP implementation of Cochin Port Trust in record time to enable the south Indian port to become the country’s first ePort.
Christened ‘e- thuramugham’ or ePort, the project integrates the port’s operational, financials, real-estate and human resources systems on an Integrated Port Information System. Once fully functional, it will provide a real time interface with customs, port users, banks and the port community system of the Indian Ports Association. The system will provide single window facility to the trade for filing applications, receiving service bills, payments and enquiries.

Ramachandran, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, appreciated the delivery model of TCS in this project of national significance. “I am extremely happy to see the speedy implementation of e-thuramugham in record time of 10 months. With this, we will be enabled and empowered to closely monitor performance, improve operational efficiency and provide higher standards of service to the shipping and export-import community.”

TCS has implemented and customized the application software for port operations, SAP ERP, GIS-based Estate Management and set-up a state-of-art Data Centre along with campus-wide networking. The GIS based estate management system will enable Cochin Port Trust to monitor as well maximize returns on their reality holdings.

Cochin Port Trust which is an autonomous body under The Major Port Trusts Act 1963. The Central Government constitutes a Board of Trustees, responsible for management of the port. The Government of India may from time to time nominate the Trustees in the Board representing various interests. The Major Port Trusts Act, 1963, makes provision for the constitution of the Cochin Port Trust to vest the administration, control and management of the port.
