Tata Consultancy Services’ Program Aims to Foster Computational Thinking Skills while Addressing Community-Centered Issues, to Inspire Young Students to Pursue STEM Education and Technology Careers
JAKARTA, September 21, 2023: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has partnered with Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to launch its flagship goIT program for students in Indonesia. The collaboration aims to provide students the technology edge to close the STEM skills gap and broaden their career horizons.
TCS and Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta have partnered to build on their shared belief of equipping young minds with technological skills to excel in today’s fast-moving technology field.
TCS goIT is a student engagement program that helps students from diverse backgrounds design human-centered solutions that harness technologies for innovation and social good. Through a standards-aligned engaging curriculum, students are introduced to the innovation lifecycle, product prototyping, and industry relevant entrepreneurial skills. The program aims to demystify computer science and help school students gain the skills and confidence required to pursue 21st century careers.
The 4-day program will be held at the University for a group of 200 students. It will encompass various modules to enhance the students’ STEM and computer science skills and knowledge. TCS will customize the training agenda and goIT curriculum, while its employees will be facilitators and mentors to the undergraduates and provide the necessary technology resources during the program.
Elina YU Jia, Country Head, TCS Indonesia, said, “We are excited to partner with Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to bring the goIT program to students in Indonesia. This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering technology awareness and STEM education, which are pivotal for the future workforce. We believe that by empowering students with these skills, we can help them unlock a world of opportunities.”
Tangerang Selatan, Dean of Faculty Science & Technology (FST), Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Husni Tedja, Ph.D., added, "We are delighted to collaborate with TCS on this impactful initiative. Together, we aim to inspire and equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age. This partnership is a testament to our dedication to educational excellence."
