London | Mumbai, March 06, 2018 – Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, and Virgin Atlantic, a leading UK-based global airline, has extended its strategic partnership for a further five years.
TCS and Virgin Atlantic began working together in 2004 as part of Virgin Atlantic’s ongoing strategy to invest in operational efficiencies and innovations to help the company grow its market leadership. The partnership with TCS has seen extensive improvement and transformation of Virgin Atlantic’s technology infrastructure to support Virgin Atlantic’s key business objectives.
This extended partnership includes working together to integrate Virgin Atlantic Airways with Virgin Holidays through a center of excellence focusing on Digital Transformation, Innovation, Agile, Assurance and DevOps. These initiatives will help Virgin Atlantic continue to develop its customer experience to deliver real-time passenger services and insights.
The extension of the long-standing strategic partnership is testament to TCS’ depth and breadth of expertise, TCS’ contextual knowledge of Virgin Atlantic and its proven track-record in IT Infrastructure and transformation. Both TCS and Virgin Atlantic are committed to driving positive customer impact and accelerated growth.
Don Langford, SVP Technology at Virgin Atlantic, said: ‘Customers rightly expect that our services are seamless, and our partnership with TCS will help us continue to provide them with the best experience when booking and travelling with Virgin Atlantic. We selected TCS due to its strong global presence, deep expertise in IT Infrastructure and transformation as well as its recognition for outstanding customer satisfaction. Through more integrated operations, we will be able to provide excellent customer service through various digital initiatives, while also supporting our continued growth.”
Siva Ganesan, Global Head - Travel, Transportation and Hospitality Business Unit, TCS, said, “Digital technology is transforming the consumer experience across industries, and aviation is no exception. TCS is committed to helping airlines seize opportunities in this new Business 4.0 era to deliver superior customer experiences through hyper-personalization, innovation and ecosystems that are connected, intelligent and agile. We are delighted to be Virgin’s strategic partner, as they continue their journey of pioneering change through digital disruption to further empower customers and drive innovation-led-transformation.”
About Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic was founded by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson 33 years ago with innovation and customer service at its core. Today Virgin Atlantic carries 5.5 million customers annually, and was recently named the UK’s favorite long haul carrier by Skytrax, Best Transatlantic Airline at the British Travel Awards 2017 and one of the Top 5 Airlines in the World by Airline Ratings.
Headquartered in London, Virgin Atlantic employs over 9000 people worldwide and operates a fleet of 39 aircraft serving 26 destinations across four continents. Alongside joint venture partner Delta Air Lines they operate the leading transatlantic network - offering up to 39 flights per day between the UK and US with onward connections to over 200 US and international cities.
This year Virgin Atlantic became the first airline in Europe to be fully Wi-Fi connected, and in 2019 will take delivery of their first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft - helping to transform the fleet into one of the quietest and most fuel-efficient in the sky.
