TCS inaugurated its innovation center in Cincinnati, OH in May 2014. The newly launched innovation center will be mainly geared towards creating custom solutions for customers around their specific vertical needs. Although TCS owns a number of innovation centers, mainly located in India that focus on creating and providing solutions to clients in the U.S., the Cincinnati center is its first location within North America.
TCS deems the following as few of the top reasons for choosing Cincinnati for its first ever U.S. innovation center location.
The GDC allows TCS to offer the following benefits to its U.S. based clients:
Innovation Focus
The newly launched innovation center will be mainly geared towards creating custom solutions for customers around their specific vertical needs. In addition to creating custom solutions by verticals, the center will also be used to build talent and solutions around TCS' Digital Enterprise practice as well as around the area of AI and robotics. The Innovation lab has a dedicated space for showcasing cutting edge solutions across industry verticals and technology horizontals from its other TCS Innovation Labs across the globe. The Cincinnati showcase also plans to become the hub for demonstrating solutions from Emerging Technology companies from TCS Co-Innovation Network (COIN). Researchers from this Innovation lab play a key role in the Co-Innovation partnership on Supply Chain Visualization and Collaboration with Purdue University.
Delivery Focus
The Cincinnati Innovation Center is part of TCS' first U.S. based global delivery center (GDC) that was built 6 years ago in Cincinnati, OH. The Cincinnati GDC delivers solutions only to U.S. based customers and 92% of the GDC workforce is based on domestic sourcing.
The GDC allows TCS to offer the following benefits to its U.S. based clients:
Growth Aspiration
TCS is aggressively planning to grow its Cincinnati innovation center both in terms of headcount as well as infrastructure and R&D investments. In addition, TCS plans to do more service to the local community beyond just the monetary benefits such as providing education to the local talent.
IDC Viewpoint
IDC believes the opening of the new innovation center at the Cincinnati GDC is definitely a step in the right direction by TCS. This move will help TCS both in terms of handling clients' onsite staff augmentation as well as new technology adoption needs.
As clients increasingly look to adopt new technologies particularly around digitization and the 3rd platform, there is a big demand to be able to test innovative ideas through prototyping. This is where IDC believes the opening of the Cincinnati innovation center will play an integral part in TCS' success within the U.S. market in the near future. The innovation center allows customers to create, build, and test prototypes for their specific vertical needs around various partner products such as Tibco, Informatica, and MicroStrategy and across industries.
