From top international athletes to fitness enthusiasts, the TCS World 10K Bengaluru saw over 19,000 runners cross the finish line on May 15, 2022.
TCS’ marathon app connected the runners through features such as virtual event, runner tracking, social media sharing, and much more.
On May 15, 2022, the city of Bengaluru was bustling with energy. After all, it was the day of TCS World 10K Bengaluru, which was being organized after a 28-month pandemic-induced hiatus. Rains had lashed the city throughout the previous night, but that did very little to dampen the spirit of the runners. Race day brought together professional athletes, regular runners, and other fitness enthusiasts, who would compete not only with each other, but with their own personal records.
From the 5K Majja Run to the 10K challenge—Bengaluru’s passion for running was on display during the event. While the athletes excelled with their speed and perseverance, the participants of the Senior Citizens’ Run and Champions with Disability became a source of inspiration for runners and spectators alike.
The event saw inspiring performances from international elite athletes such as Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir Kimel, who bagged the gold medal in the men’s category with a course record of 27.38 minutes. Ethiopian long-distance runner Tadese Worku won the silver medal, with Kibiwott Kandie securing bronze. Irene Cheptai from Kenya won the gold medal in the women’s category with a record of 30.35 minutes, followed by Hellen Obiri and Joyce Tele, forming a winning Kenyan trio.
TCS leadership participated in the run, too. Here’s what Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, vice-president and head of Financial Solutions, had to say, “Long-distance running challenges us. We cross a lot of boundaries to make it happen and that’s the most exciting part. It’s a lot about discipline, and at times it’s about mind over body. At the time you want to give up, you tell yourself, ‘No!’ and keep going.”
The TCS World 10K Bengaluru race app, which connected over 19,000 participants, added to the excitement with features such as runner tracking, selfie frames, race information, virtual run, social media sharing, and much more.
