Sustainable futures through pioneering climate leadership
Welcome to the TCS GoZero Hub in partnership with the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N)
What will the future of sustainability look like? At Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), we believe that sustainable futures will be seeded by the spirit of collaboration and ecosystem play. TCS, in partnership with the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), Singapore, established the TCS GoZero Hub as an ASEAN Centre of Excellence for research, innovation, and collaboration.
Aimed at advancing sustainable technologies and practices toward achieving global net-zero emissions targets, the hub will leverage cutting-edge digital solutions, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, and drive impactful initiatives in academia, industry, and society.
Through this partnership, we will bring together multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted innovations, ideas, and solutions from industry (through TCS) and academia (through ERI@N) to service and support students, industry, government, regulatory bodies, and communities, and enable them to transition to a net-zero future and beyond.
Converting insight into action
The hub will tackle the complex task of carbon management through the twin levers of decarbonisation and carbon accounting. It aims to bring about a significant reduction in carbon emissions by promoting the integration of renewable energy solutions, smart technologies, and sustainable practices.
In Singapore, the hub will focus on decarbonising key sectors such as energy, transport, and manufacturing, aligning with the country’s Green Plan 2030, which emphasises sustainability and carbon neutrality.
The centre is also dedicated to advancing the measurement and reporting of carbon emissions. By implementing robust carbon accounting practices, the centre aims to provide businesses with the tools and methodologies needed to accurately track their carbon footprints.
The hub aims to accelerate the energy transition in industrial environments and government-led infrastructure with mechanisms and practices that effectively displace conventional fossil fuel-based operations. Our research-inspired approach focuses on the electrification of different sectors, energy efficiency, transformative energy system needs, and the adoption of urban renewables and is intended to help swiftly transform the energy landscape.
With computing playing a crucial role in solution-building for sustainability, the hub aims to build futuristic capabilities in solving multi-dimensional vectors and smoothening the sustainability journey using effective tools. These resources can help clients fast-forward their sustainability goals through a plug-and-play approach to a variety of needs, starting from assessment to deployment to, ultimately, attainment. The three technologies that will be purpose-developed and offered at the hub will be AI, blockchain, and cybersecurity. Acting as a tangent to Singapore’s Smart Nation agenda, these will form the ‘ABC’ for sustainability practices.
With its three-pronged focus on sustainable transport, climate policy, and food security, the hub attempts to take on the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. The hub promotes sustainable transport through the introduction of smart city infrastructure such as harnessing AI for city management, extensive deployment of EV charging stations, and introduction of autonomous systems where possible.
On the policy front, the hub is dedicated to developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that address climate change and promote environmental stewardship. Key initiatives will include the formulation of stringent emission standards, incentives for renewable energy adoption, and frameworks for sustainable urban planning.
Recognising the importance of sustainable food systems in the face of climate change and global supply chain disruptions, the hub is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that ensure a resilient and self-sufficient food supply for Singapore and the ASEAN region. It aims to enhance local food production capabilities, reduce dependency on imports, and promote sustainable agricultural practices by encouraging urban farming projects, vertical agriculture, and the development of high-value agri inputs.
By integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our core operations, the hub is dedicated to helping organisations meet their sustainability targets and enhance their overall corporate governance and social responsibility. This focus on ESG impact goes beyond compliance; it aims to drive long-term value creation through ethical business practices, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.
With a focus on promoting circularity, the hub integrates digital tools, platforms, and technologies to track and trace materials, optimise resource use, enhance design for circularity, and facilitate circular supply chains. We are focused on developing sustainable alternatives with biodegradable properties, recycling-friendly, renewable forms, and bio-based alternatives. A specific focus is laid on value generation from end-of-life products by researching modular design, design for disassembly, cradle-to-cradle assessment, and industrial symbiosis.
