Milind Lakkad took charge as the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in May 2019. As the CHRO of the company he oversees all aspects of Human Resources strategy and management including strategic talent initiatives and people practices for TCS’ 600,000+ employees across 55 countries.
Milind joined TCS as a trainee in 1987. He took over as the head of Manufacturing Practice in 2006 and later rose the ranks to head the Manufacturing Business Group in 2008. Under his leadership, the business group saw a remarkable six-fold growth and achieved benchmark profitability.
Milind is dedicated to strengthening a high-performance culture in TCS. He has been instrumental in re-imagining talent development through flagship initiatives such as TCS Elevate, a learning-based talent transformation program for all levels. Under his guidance, TCS aims to create one of the largest AI-ready workforces in the world.
Committed to bridging the IT skills gap in the industry, Milind leads CSR initiatives through four major projects that prioritize social initiatives including, Youth Employment, Rural Entrepreneurship, Adult Literacy, and helping students solve real-world challenges through technology.
Milind has played a significant role in making TCS a workplace of choice among employees. The wellbeing of TCS’ diverse workforce is at the centre of his people strategy. Focused on empathy and holistic employee development, TCS’ people strategies have garnered international recognition, including being named a Global Top Employer for nine consecutive years. Notably, TCS was also recognized as a Leader and Star Performer in the Everest Group PEAK Matrix assessment for Talent Readiness in Next-Generation IT Services.
Milind holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from NIT Calicut in 1985 and a master’s in design engineering from IIT Bombay in 1986.
