About 8 years ago, I joined TCS as a team lead to pursue the next phase of my life. TCS Mexico where I had spent most of my professional life and honestly, it has been an enriching experience as I was completely unfamiliar with the organization except the facts that it is one of the best technology companies in Guadalajara.
My Growth Story
Like every other new joiner, starting and managing a project from scratch was bit like completing a Rubik’s cube. I was fortunate to begin it with the perfect set of colleagues and manager whose proactive attitude and problem-solving skills and knowledge made it a smooth transition.
During this transformation phase, I learned that with the strong willingness to learn and adapt, you can not only achieve the goals but also empower and inspire others around you.
As time went on, I actively sought out opportunities to grow and take on significant responsibilities and I got my first one in just 2 years of span.
I started my new project as a Tower Lead. It was 4 times bigger project with the team of over 200 people. Increase in headcount, scope and responsibility was daunting. My primary focus was on keeping the team motivated and productive, even in the face of uncertainty. I had to learn and adapt few leadership qualities such as effective communication, accountability, empathy, and delegation. This project gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to lead people and projects.
I got another opportunity to work on Service Desk and Network Operations project; once again, lots of efforts, lots of learnings, a fruitful story in the end.
After about a year of me taking over the role of a Service Delivery Manager, ours was the first end-to-end project set up as per SBWS. With the pandemic at its peak, the project had unique and unexpected challenges. However, I could sort out these challenges by collaborating with an efficient and confident team.
One year later, I became the Cluster Lead and was involved with the management of multiple BPS projects. I was a part of different RFIs plus RFP processes and pre-sales presentations, while representing Mexico to potential clients.
What it means to be a proud TCSer
There are two main reasons why I’m still associated with TCS. The first one is that my role enhancement happened thrice in five years. I guess very few organizations back the associates by giving them such opportunities to prove themselves and move up the value chain.
The second most crucial reason in my TCS journey is that people are helpful in sharing their knowledge and experience while making me feel like a family in the process. Usually, larger the organization, more are the chances of associates becoming just a number and getting lost. I’m very grateful to my managers and mentors for believing in me and going out of their way to guide and support me.
My journey from Team Lead to Cluster Lead is a testament to dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to my personal and professional growth, strengthened by TCS’ firm support.
