India, Mumbai, August 29, 2009: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, today announced that it had signed a contract with Saudi Arabia’s Chamber of Commerce of the Eastern Region for executing an Oracle ERP implementation project.
The Chamber of Commerce of the Eastern Region is one of Saudi Arabia's oldest and well-established service organizations which are devoted to the cause of promotion of the private sector's contribution to the Saudi economy. It provides various services to the local community and businesses to facilitate their interaction with the government with the ultimate objective of accelerating the pace of growth in the Saudi Arabian economy.
In order to meet its objective, the Chamber has embarked upon a transformational IT initiative to automate business processes in order to provide online web-based services to its customers. This transformation exercise would result in improved efficiency and quality; thereby changing the way services are delivered. The project covers the Chamber’s process and services including finance, logistics, budgeting, human resource management, customer and citizen relationship management as well as project management and a business portal.
The agreement was signed by Abdulrahman Al Rashed, Chairman of the Easter Region Chamber of Commerce and Neeraj K Srivastava, Country Manager, TCS Saudi Arabia, in the presence of eminent attendees. The project will be completed within a period of two and half years in three phases ending in 2010.
Abdulrahman Al Rashed said that the Electronic Chamber Project will enable the investors and researchers to obtain the relevant economic data from the rich database maintained by the Chamber pertaining to the various industry sectors in the Eastern Region. In addition to that the project will extend the communication channels between the Chamber, its subscribers, investors and researchers of the industry.
In continuation of the same, Adnan Al Na'eim, General Secretary of the Eastern Region Chamber of Commerce said that the project is considered a qualitative jump and precedent in the Gulf region and Arab World in the area of subscriber service. The project will contribute in raising the level of service provided by the Eastern Region Chamber of Commerce to its subscribers to a higher level with unmatched professionalism and ease of usage. He added that the implementation of the latest version of the Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) software of the Oracle Corporation will also enhance its operations related to financial, logistical, human resources, customer relations management and project management functions.
“The Dammam Chamber is an important organization in the oil rich region of eastern province of Saudi Arabia and this transformation program will help it provide better quality of services to its stakeholders and result in the greater efficiency for the organization,” said Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Head of the Middle-East and North African operations of Tata Consultancy Services.
