Top 2 elite Indian Male and female full marathon winners to get the opportunity
Ready. Steady. Fly.
MUMBAI, January 16, 2015: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, today announced a special initiative to raise the bar for marathon running in India. The top two Indian elite male and top two elite Indian female finishers in the full marathon of the 2015 Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon will be given the opportunity to train and compete in the TCS NYC Marathon 2015 later this year. The four top Indian athletes will be given all-expenses paid entry into the TCS NYC Marathon 2015 along with travel and accommodation.
Called “Ready, Steady, Fly,” the TCS program will fly the top two winning male and female elite athletes for the TCS New York City Marathon in November this year. The winners will also be put through a specific training program under the supervision on the Athletic Federation of India, so that they are better equipped to compete with the world’s top distance runners in the TCS New York City Marathon, the biggest marathon in the world featuring 50,000 runners each year. TCS will also provide the winners with New York Road Runners (NYRR) custom-built online training software and access to top NYRR coaches’ advice and training regimes.
“Through this program, TCS not only aims to recognize the passion and perseverance of Indian distance runners but also help them raise their game on the global stage. We want to use our international marathon partnerships and linkages to help boost the prospects of top Indian distance runners by exposing them to the highest form of global competition,” said Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Human Resources of TCS. “Since top Indian runners use the Mumbai Marathon to qualify for the Olympics and other major international events, rewarding these winners with a chance to compete with the world’s elite in New York will help India raise the bar in distance running.”
TCS has been associated with Mumbai Marathons and many international Marathons like the TCS New York City Marathon and the TCS Amsterdam Marathon.
The special initiative for the top 2 male and female winners of the full marathon will include an all-expense paid entry into the 2015 TCS NYC marathon. TCS will also host the athletes in New York during the 2015 race weekend.
