London | Mumbai, April 21, 2016: Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has been recognized as one of the UK’s leading employers for women in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women.
TCS’ place in The Times Top 50 is recognition of its continued drive to make gender equality a central part of its business strategy, its ongoing commitment to enabling women to fulfill their professional ambitions across all areas of its organization, while championing everyday equality in the workplace.
TCS has had a formal Diversity & Inclusion corporate function since 2010, designed to provide strategic guidance and support for diversity programmes across the globe. This initiative is led by senior managers who act as role models and help to demonstrate the positive impact that diverse teams and recruitment can have on the business, with a focus on gender equality. TCS employs over 100,000 women globally, a third of its total workforce. TCS also invests in training to help women at all levels excel in their roles, including one-to-one coaching when they take up senior roles, a Rising Stars Program for women with three-to-five years’ of experience, and the Pathways to Success Workshop, a leadership programme for women with five-to-eight years’ experience.
The Times Top 50 Employers for Women recognizes organizations that are spearheading gender equality in the workplace and making a conscious effort to even the playing field for men and women. Any employer with a UK presence may enter and the Top 50 list is selected following a comprehensive submission and evaluation, managed and assessed by campaign group Opportunity Now.
Nupur Singh Mallick, HR Director, TCS, UK & Ireland, commented, “At TCS, we work hard to provide a supportive environment for all our associates and to help them to achieve their full potential at work. Given the need for more women to pursue careers in the IT industry, both in the UK and globally, we want to show that working in tech can be hugely fulfilling and rewarding. Our goal is to create an environment where women are encouraged to be ambitious and confident, and to be role models within our business. We are delighted to have been recognized as one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women, and we look forward to building an even better workplace in the future.”
Kathryn Nawrockyi, Gender Equality Director AT Business in the Community, said, “Huge congratulations to TCS on being named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2016 – the process was highly competitive so they should be extremely proud of their success. They have demonstrated a commitment to fundamentally changing workplace processes and cultures to make them inclusive to all, benefitting women and men at every level in their organization, and I hope they inspire other employers to do the same.”
Emma Tucker, Deputy Editor, The Times, said, “The Times is pleased to celebrate Business in the Community's 25 years of campaigning for gender equality by publishing a special report to mark its 2016 list of the Top 50 Employers for Women. The supplement will highlight the advances these 50 organizations have made in increasing opportunities and creating working environments where women are free to reach their full potential and also explore those areas where more needs to be done.”
This latest award builds on a number of recent recognitions of the company’s employee engagement and development activities. TCS was named Company of the Year at the 2016 Employee Engagement Awards, a UK Top Employer 2016 by the Top Employers Institutue, and was recently recognized as an ASTD Champion of Learning for the eighth year in a row. TCS UK HR Director, Nupur Mallick, was also recognized as ‘HR Director of The Year’ at the recent HR Directors Business Summit.
