TCS Bags National HR Award for the Fourth Consecutive Year
TORONTO | MUMBAI, October 5, 2018: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization, has won the 2018 Canadian National HR award for 'Best Recruitment Campaign,' for the fourth straight year.
Canadian HR Reporter measured the recruitment initiatives of top companies vying for Canadian talent, and awarded TCS with this coveted distinction, in addition to recognizing the impact of its corporate social responsibility efforts in Canada.
“We are investing in building significant local capabilities to help Canadian corporations accelerate their digital transformation journeys and deliver a superior experience to their customers,” said Soumen Roy, Executive Director and Country Head, TCS Canada. “To address the problem of skill shortages, we are working closely with Canadian universities to identify and bring on board their best and brightest graduates, and equip them with the latest digital technology skills. This award is a recognition of our success at attracting and developing the best talent in Canada.”
TCS has built strong relationships with universities across Canada – in Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta – and used innovative approaches to engage with prospective recruits. Today, 5.6 percent of campus recruitment happens through gamified hiring, a figure expected to grow. By incorporating games, TCS assesses candidates and helps determine their drive for innovation, their ability to solve problems and their capacity to perform under pressure. TCS also hosts and participates in numerous campus events, including career fairs and hackathons, to help attract students and introduce them to prospective careers at TCS. In the last year alone, TCS has hired almost 100 Canadian university students in full-time positions from 16 leading universities.
Once hired, recruits complete a fully paid, six-week comprehensive training program, called the Initial Learning Program (ILP), which equips them with the technical and contextual skills necessary to become part of a live project for a customer. But the learning does not stop there. TCS continues to provide employees with learning and development opportunities throughout their career. Employees undergo a minimum of ten days of training each year, honing and upgrading their skills to help keep pace with the rapid digital transformation across industries in the Business 4.0 era.
Beyond giving employees opportunities to work on the most exciting new technologies, TCS also affords them numerous ways to give back to their communities. goIT, the company’s signature community engagement program, provides opportunities for TCSers to mentor Canadian youth. Since its inception, goIT has resulted in almost 62,000 hours of STEM skill building, design thinking, and computer science programming for students, including initiatives aimed specifically toward girls, and indigenous groups.
Earlier this year, TCS was certified a Top Employer in Canada for the third consecutive year by the Top Employers Institute, and was also recognized as one of the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in North America.
