SINGAPORE, 19 September 2023 – An enhanced version of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon™ (SCSM) SCSM+ app, powered by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is now available, offering participants a seamless and engaging race experience. Among the innovative new features this year is the ability for participants to connect with and train alongside other runners and participate in challenges wherever they may be.
The app is developed by TCS, the official mobile app partner for SCSM 2023, which is set to return on 1-3 December. The app is now available for download from 19 September 2023. In the lead up to this year’s marathon, the SCSM+ app will help runners train to achieve their big goals.
In addition to providing critical race updates, transportation tips, race registration, and live runner tracking, the new SCSM+ app will support participants as they get into gear for the upcoming run with new functionalities including virtual runs, challenges, as well as the ability to register for weekly training runs leading up to SCSM 2023. The incorporation of virtual runs and training sessions also means that runners will be able to train or even participate in SCSM 2023 from anywhere in the world, opening the event up to more runners than ever before.
To celebrate the launch of the new SCSM+ app, from 19 September to 2 October 2023, participants who have downloaded the app will be able to join the TCS Kick-off Virtual Run, where they have the opportunity to win SGD50 Amazon.sg vouchers upon completing a 5km run.
TCS is also bringing back the popular TCS Corporate Challenge, which is a unique opportunity for corporate teams to compete for the top spot at the SCSM 2023. The TCS Corporate Challenge 2023 will consist of three categories: Total Distance by Corporate Finishers, Top Corporate Male, and Top Corporate Female from each race category (i.e., Marathon, Half Marathon, 10KM or 5KM). Top corporate and individual finishers at each distance will be recognised at an award ceremony in January 2024, with the top marathon male and female finishers of the Challenge receiving race entries to the prestigious TCS London Marathon 2024 in April.
Santoz Kumar, General Manager of Singapore for The IRONMAN Group said, “The ability to have our runners connect and stay connected in the lead up to race day and beyond was compelling and aligned with our aim of building a running community in Singapore and around the world. TCS' commitment to excellence is a perfect match for our vision for the race and we are pleased this continued partnership has allowed us to enhance the race experience for participants and spectators alike. We will continue to support the running community in Singapore in innovative ways and we are confident that together we can create a truly memorable experience for all.”
Ameet Nivsarkar, Country Head, TCS Singapore, said, “TCS created an integrated and seamless race app for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon to enhance the digital experience for runners and spectators alike with an emphasis on innovation and health. The SCSM+ app offers a variety of new features to help runners stay motivated and track their progress, providing participants with an exceptional race experience that fosters collaboration, healthy competition, and personal growth.”
As the official mobile app partner and title sponsor of the TCS Corporate Challenge, TCS partners with marathons like SCSM to inspire new generations of runners, build communities and encourage families to pursue holistic lifestyles. TCS also constantly strives for new ways to utilise technology to enhance the marathon experience for participants and fans alike, just as it helps customers around the world innovate and achieve sustainable goals.
